papermaking workshop

Papermaking is an enjoyable creative platform for experimentation.  Participants will be able to make sheets of paper that incorporate a variety of techniques, from adding flowers, yarn, lettering, layering and patterning.  You will create papers that, when dried, can be painted, dyed and sewn on.
All materials to make the paper will be provided at no additional materials fee.
Participants are welcome to bring scraps of yarn, dried flowers or any other items they think appropriate to be included in their paper.  We can get a bit messy, so bring an apron if you prefer.

Mary Beth Schwartzenberger was born in Chicago, Illinois.  She received her BFA in Design from Columbia College. Schwartzenberger works predominantly in the medium of painting that incorporates fiber through the use of hand embroidery. Her work is greatly inspired by natural forms, and she uses her materials to convey the colors and textures of our world.  Schwartzenberger has exhibited extensively throughout the United States as well as in numerous solo exhibitions in the Southern California area. Her work was recently featured in Through Our Hands online magazine. She lives and maintains a studio in Los Angeles, California, and is a member of Surface Art Association.
