coiled necklace workshop 

Saturday, August 3, 2019 | 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM

We will construct a two or three coiled necklace. Once the coiled necklace is constructed it can be decorated with beads, charms, a pendent, etc.
Kit fee: $7.00 payable to the teacher on the day of the workshop.
Max of 20 people. 

List of supplies participants bring:  

  • 2-3 small balls of yarn, each 11 yards long in the color of your choice 

    • 2 balls for a two-coil necklace: pick one dark yarn and one light yarn

    • 3 balls for a three-coil necklace: pick one dark and two lights, or one dark, one light and one medium

    • Any kind of yarn can be used, but not too small or you’ll never finish. For reference, the samples were done with medium-weight yarn. Hairy yarn might not work well. It might get tangled. 

  • Matching thread 

  • (30”) Silky cord (2mm): This can be purchased in the Jewelry dept. of Joann’s.  The teacher will have some in neutrals but it may not match your colors. 

  • 1 ½” long embroidery needle with a sharp point (the eye of the needle needs to be large enough for your yarn; a chenille needle will work best) 

  • Needle threader (large, for your yarn) 

  • Thimble 

  • Scissors

  • Tape measure

Rachel Williamson grew up in Salem, Oregon. She received her BS in Art from Oregon State University where she studied painting, drawing, printmaking and graphic design. She has transferred the techniques she learned on paper and canvas to silk and other fabrics to create one of a kind garments and accessories.
