Seligman, Laura

I am a textile artist and photographer. My most recent work plays with the luminosity of hand-dyed silk in both fine art and wearable art, and the exploration of color, pattern and texture through the lens of a camera. Originally, the textile designs were informed by photographs of the natural world. The creative cycle completed with a return to the camera, evolving with an artist’s eye as the photographs became works of art. The silk panels are created with a screenprint process using French dyes, and may be stitched or collaged with silk strands. With my recent move to LA from Ann Arbor, I am excited to experience light in a new way.
